Abstract

Soda production in the world is based on four main methods of its production: ammonia (from sodium chloride), natural soda, nepheline and sodium hydroxide carbonization. Ammonia method (Solvay) of soda continues to be the main method, and its share is from 65 to 70%. The reserves of natural sodium sulfate were determined and the chemical composition of raw materials was investigated. In the process of conducting a study of the production of soda ash from natural sodium sulfate using a carbonaceous material by melting, the main parameters of the temperature of 1000°C, the time of 45 minutes, the degree of transition of 98.9% and the possibility of obtaining soda are determined. Sodium sulfate and calcium carbonate, mixing together with carbon, fused in the range of these temperatures and times. Coke consumption in all experiments was 104%.
